Cripes!!!! CEL on
Started the car up this evening and the yellow "engine" warning light was on... Drove home, car seems OK, no other warning messages... what does it mean?
I turned off, then on again when I got home, light still on! Can not see anything in the book... Any ideas (dealer closed so can't call then yet). Thanks DNA |

Wouldnt drive if I were you. If uncombusted diesel goes through your catalyc converter it will ruin it and cost you a lot of money. Dont you have a 24-hour mobility warranty or something like that? Call them and get a rent-a-car.

page 236 in the amercian manual I found on the net, expaining the yellow engine warning lamp:
The warning lamp flashes under certain circumstances: This indicates that there is excessive misfiring in the engine. Reduce the vehicle speed and have the system checked immediately; otherwise, serious engine misfiring within a brief period can seriously damage emission control components, in particular the catalytic converter |

Just press the SOS button. They should be able to see what's going on with your car, and send the data to your dealership. |

Getting the hump.....
I booked the car in for Monday, Vauxhall loan car ... anyway, went out this morning and the light is off... spoke to the dealer and they said it is up to me whether I still bring it in or not. Been in it all day, done 200 miles, no light... Think I might leave it.
Any thoughts....??? |

Useless Handbook
I have looked through the handbook and index and I can find nothing that tells me anything useful about the engine warning light or the assist/SOS button.
I tried pressing it but it "tried to connect" a few times and gave up. Do I have to "activate" the system? Book is next to useless. I live in UK, anyone else in the UK have a clue about either? I do agree it has got to be looked at, will call dealer again tomorrow I think. DNA Last edited by DNA_42; 11-22-2010 at 03:44 PM.. |

Just found it...
...rather unhelpfully hidden in the Maintenance section rather than URGENT WARNING LAMP DANGER IMMEDIATE ACTION NEEDED section!
OK. Car goes in! Thanks everyone. DNA |

In the US, it is recommended by the dealer that you call the SOS to make an introduction and get signed up and everything set up properly for use in the future. I did it so I could send Google maps to my account and have them in Meassages when I get to the car.
