New 550i: Question About Shut Down
I just picked up my new 550i yesterday. I have comfort access. I noticed that if I switch the vehicle off using the Start/Stop Engine button with the brake petal depressed, the first press results in the engine shutting off but the navigation screen and audio systems remaining on. A second press of the Start/Stop Engine button will deactivate everything. I can also fully deactivate the navigation and audio systems after the engine is turned off by using the remote and locking the car. I checked the manual, but I am not sure whether the second button press should be necessary. My experience with other vehicles is that once you shut them off using the Start/Stop button, all systems are deactivated. I am concerned that leaving the vehicle with the navigation screen still on and the audio system playing will drain the battery. I do not know if there is a delayed auto full shutoff engaged at some point. Anyone have any thoughts or experience relating to this? Does my vehicle have a bug? Thanks.

One short push of the Start/Stop button turns the engine off but leaves accessories (radio, etc.) on. A second short push turns everything off. Conversely, one longer push of the button turns everything off.

You need to do second push, or just lock the car. For audio and radio, they would also automatically shut down after 3 minutes if you do not use second push. I presume navigation system would do the same, though I have not tried it myself. |
