Ipod Touch sound quality problem
Having an issue with my November build F11 525d, Professional Navigation, Hi Fi Professional, DAB hooked up via a cable to my brand new ipod touch
It comes and goes and is not always that loud but I can hear something that sounds like a scratch on an old vinyl record. I am pretty convinced that it is some kind of electronic interference/static since it does not happen at the same time when the track is replayed and does not happen when I am listening to the radio or a CD. Have tried ipod in flight mode, but it makes no difference. Have also tried switching cell phone off to rule that out and again makes no difference. Now that I have noticed this I find myself listening for it all the time and it is really annoying. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be? |

Are you using the black BMW Y-cable, or just a normal Apple dock cable.
For a November build car, you don't need the BMW cable and it is that cable which is almost certainly causing your problems. |

Do you have iOS 4.2?
Release notes from Apple: Bug fixes, including: - Eliminates sound artifacts occasionally captured in recorded audio with 4th generation iPod touch - Improves audio playback to car stereos via USB |

It sounds like a cable issue. Try reinserting your cables and making sure that they are all the way in.

Thanks for all the posts.
I am using the standard ipod cable and have software version 4.2.1 I tried a few things today and things have improved. I removed my sunglasses and synthetic case for the centre armrest, laid the ipod as falt as possible (to minimise movement), swapped the ipod cable and ensured that it was properly connected. Listened to Depeche Mode with no noticeable sound quality issues. However, swapped to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and I still think I can hear some interference. Will try some more tomorrow. |
