Nav button - Is Nav hardware Installed?
Hi folks, I'm hoping someone out there has the answer to this. I just picked up my new 520D F10 M Sport last Saturday.
I didn't order Nav but I notice that in front of the iDrive controller, theres a button that says Nav on it. Does this mean that all the hardware required for Nav is already installed but software locked? If so, is it possible to unlock? I have only 300 Kilometers on the clock since I got it and am getting approx 34 mpg (UK) despite driving it very gently. Is this normal and if so at what stage should I get closer to 56mpg? Finally, does anyone know how long it takes to 'run in' the engine? |

I was checking on the specs for the iDrive controller and think that other than country specific specs, there isn't any mention of a different controller whether you have opted for Nav or not (so the NAV button is always there) - although I pretty much doubt the Nav hardware is installed, you could see at RealOEM that Enable Codes are available for Initial and subsequent activation. You might want to check with your dealer to ascertain. Cheers

As per the manual, you should not exceed the applicable RPM limit for the first 1,200 mile break-in period. Thereafter you can gradually begin to open up, but it's important that you don't overload the engine and you should also vary the revs as much as possible; ie, don't cruise for long distances at a steady RPM until you have about 2,000 miles on the car. |
