Spacers for the F10 550i
Are there any companies out there offering spacers for the 550? Thanks in advance

Macht Schnell, Rouge Engineering, H&R are all great companies that I have recommended to customers.

I was thinking about getting spacers for my 550i M-sport as well. My 20" M6 replicas seem a little too tucked in the front and I would like to get them out a little. Why do you want to get spacers for yours? Same reason? I had H&R springs on mine, but the front was way too low so I went with RDs. Do you have the Dinan software upgrade?

Same with me.....although I have a 535i M sport. The car looked fine on stock suspension. However, I thought the handling was soft and the wheel well gap too big so I installed ACS springs. Handles way better and looks great. Where the tires looked fine on the original suspension, they now look a bit too tucked in. Hence, I'm now looking at spacers. I'm perfectly happy with the Msport 19" rims....just want to bring them out a bit to look better.
Just trying to figure out how much to bring them out. I don't want them to stick out and want to err on the side of caution as I don't want any rubbing. Any recommendations on how big a spacer to use? I've been recommended to use 12mm spacers. I've also heard that H&R spacers have had vibration complaints. I've been recommended to go with BIMECC. I've also found that RAD USA also makes spacers. Are these any good? Any recommendations on the above? Thanks..... |

My front is pretty damn low with the HRs as well. I want my rears to be aligned with my rear fender and my front wheels just a little more out so te difference doesn't look weird. And no tune yet but will be getting the eurocharged tune as soon as I have time

"VMRWheels" states that he recommended macht schnell among other brands. I'm most likely going with them because my brother has them on his M5 and he hasn't had a complaint yet

I have used H and R on my E46 330, E46 M3, E85 M coupe, E70 X5, E90 335D, and now on my F10, no complaints on any of them, ever. People who have experienced vibration problems are likely doing so with a 5mm or 7mm that doesn't have its own hub on the spacer itself, thus not allowing the wheel to be hub-centric. When used properly you will not have any issues whatsoever. Just an FYI, using a 5mm plate type spacer from any manufacturer without its own hub will cause problems on the front of the F10 as the car's hub isn't long enough to keep the front stock wheels centered. Use a 10mm or 12mm hub style spacer from almost any manufacturer and you're all good.

I just installed 12mm front and 15mm rear on my 550iX. I got the spacers from Burgertuning (I had them on a previous BMW) and the extended lug bolts from Turner. Looks and drives great with no vibration.

Atlanta F10,
Have you gotten yours lowered at Butler yet? I was up there a few weeks ago to get 10 mm spacers put on the front of my 550i. I got my Dinan tune back in April, and all I can say is WOW!!!!. I want to see your pics after you get your ACS springs. I have RDs and may go with ACS next time. |

I can take some pics with the spacers when I get back home next weekend. I think it looks good - more agressive stance (mine is X drive so only 245's on the rear). Dinan tune is a nice boost.

I like them much better than the H&Rs since I have adaptive suspension. The H&Rs were much too low in the front and too bouncy. The RDs are much better suited to the adaptive drive in sport mode, but are still a little low in the front and still a little soft. With both the H&Rs and RDs, normal and comfort modes are pretty worthless as it feels like you're floating in a boat with the front and back of the car going up and down out of sink with each other. I've thought about trying ACS springs, but I don't want to swap my springs 3 times and it still feel the same. That's why I was asking Atlanta F10 how his ACS springs rode and how low the front was.

Vinfast,
I'll be getting the ACS springs soon...I'll let you know how it goes. I'm really itching to get that Dinan tune and also open up the exhaust too... |

What do you plan to do to open up the exhaust? I would like to remove the secondary cats and replace with an X pipe. I haven't been able to find one so probably a case of getting one made to fit. I think removing the secondary cats will free up the flow and won't trigger any CEL's and also improve the sound. Let me know if you find anything please.
