Reset F10 Engine Oil change interval

1. Turn on ignition but not engine (press start engine/ignition button without depressing brake)
2. Press and hold only button on bottom left of tacho /instrument display
3. Display will change and show brake pad wear indicator picture
4. Press (and release) same button again to scroll through menu
5. When you reach the engine oil option (pic) press and hold until option appears to reset interval
6. Press and hold, interval will reset
7. New date and mileage will display, with 'reset not possible' (until you have driven another X number of miles)

Done!

Sure thing, guys. Actually someone said it would it would be like the e90/e60 .. I just tried it out.

Interestingly, the interval for 'vehicle checkup' went from 6/2014 to 6/2013 (shortened) after I reset the oil interval, I have no idea why this is..

Good deal. Thanks for posting. Ive been thinking about ordering a 550i, and have been ticked because everything seems to need to happen at the dealer. I called the other day to see if this reset can be done (as is the case with every car I've ever owned/seen) at home versus having to take it in. The service writer said that it could only be done at the dealer. In the words of the great Waylon Jennings "WRONG"... I really do not like any of these dealers, I really don't...

GARBAJ,
It seems like all the regular maintenance work can be done without any dealer computer/codes or whatever.
According to all the info thats on the 3 (e90) forums, if this car is similar, then you really don't have to go back to the dealer unless there is a problem.
If you get an 'big' error code (engine, trans.) then you need the computer to tell you whats wrong, but some Indy's also have them.
I don't think my car misses the dealer.

If I reset the oil service indicator will the service reminders go away? I notice that the vehicle health check cannot be reset in this manner.
