Finally got my roof wrapped

I have been wanting to wrap my roof gloss black for months now, but work has been super busy for me this summer and I was unable to find time until yesterday. After some research on here and some other BMW forums, I decided to go with Exclusive Vinyl in Brooklyn, NY. The owner Roman is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. They run a small shop, but their skill level with vinyl and attention to detail is simply amazing. I am very pleased with the results.

I have been torn for months about whether to wrap the roof rails or not, and in the end decided not to as I think it looks more OEM that way and I am going for an OEM+ look rather than a heavily modded look. Also had them black out my door handle trim. I will take some better pics soon, but these will give you an idea of how it looks.

I think you did the right thing with not putting the vinyl on the rails. From above the trim around the windshield blends perfectly into the roof. Sometimes I wish I had an AW F10.

Wow that looks awesome!

If you don't mind, do you mind telling me how much it cost. Either on here or in a PM, I'm about to get the same thing done and would like to know a ballpark for both roof and door handles.

Sweet. How much did they charge and how does it look up close?

I was NOT happy with the work Viggs Design did on my car at all. Up close the gloss black has marks and streaks on it that never went away like Viggs claimed it would.

They charge $200 for the roof and an additional $25 to do the shark fin. They actually remove the fin and wrap it in a single piece of vinyl, taking their time to shrink it with a heat gun to ensure a tight wrap. Door handles is an additional $40. They do those on the car. No marks or imperfections, these guys know vinyl. Check out their Instagram page at Exclusive Vinyl.

Any damage to paint possible from vinyl wrapping when you need to remove the vinyl?

No. The vinyl has very low adhesion to the paint finish, sort of like painters tape. As long as you don't use a sharp object while trying to take it off, it should be just fine. The only issue I could see is that the parts of your car that are not covered in vinyl could slightly fade over time due to the sun and elements and your roof won't, so the color could be off a bit years down the road. If you are diligent with waxing your car and taking car of the finish, it should not really be an issue.

I recently ripped off my vinyl wrapped roof on my F10 myself and it was easy as pie. No damage and a breeze to do.

One thing to keep note is that most vinyl has a lifespan of 3 years or so. I think the reason for that is the adhesive may or may not get too attached to the paint after that point and become harder to remove. Just something to keep in mind.

Bake - any close up shots of the roof?

I don't, but can try to take some for you. I actually tried taking some a short time ago in my garage, but my lighting is bad and you can't see much. Will try again tomorrow morning.

Any idea how they wrapped the door handle inserts? Did they have to remove the entire handle, or just the insert, or neither?

Looks good. No streaks or anything? How did they seal the antenna back? Viggs design did a crap job on my antenna and it started leaking water into my interior.

There are some very minor, faint streaks. I am not sure if they are completely avoidable when working with gloss black vinyl. They used 3M double sided tape to put the antennae back. I guess I need to keep an eye out for water intrusion. I didn't even think about that.
