More sidewall for pothole protection? Tire recommendation?
In the market for new tires for my 528 ix and After this brutal winter the roads in WNY are trashed and will be under repair until it snows again next October.
Pros and cons of going with a 245 45 19 on a 19x9 squared setup instead of the conventional 245 40 19? I don't think rubbing will be an issue. The increase in rolling diameter should correct the speedo difference. It would fill the wheel wells a little better (dropping is not an option with the winters here) What else am I missing? Also a recommendation on a summer performance that can handle the sub 40 degree morning we have in mid spring and mid fall. Thanks in advance. |

^Agreed. Rather than going up in profile, making the wheel look smaller, potentially having discrepancies with the speedometer, or risking brake failure, go wider in tire size. When you go wider with the same profile (255/40/19 for instance), the tire also gets taller.
