Key Fob / Comfort Access
Any guys have key fobs go dead in 4 years? I'm getting a weird behavior from my car. When I walk to the passenger side, my doors automatically unlock. Sometimes it seems like the car is trying to unlock it repeatedly... I hear the locks pulsing. I also have issues locking the car with the handle touch from the passenger side.
When I am on the drivers side, they behave normally. Lately, I've been getting a lot of key fob out of range even though it's in my pocket while sitting in the drivers seat. Anyone make heads or tails of this?

When was the last time you changed the battery? Mine did the on screen alert a few times when I first got the car, changed battery and haven't seen it much since.
Doesn't CA require the handle to be touched? I would guess that is an issue on the passenger handle thinking it is being grabbed (dirty?) vs fob issue. Matt

I guess without further research, my next question is how do you change the battery?
I'll look at it... but in case someone else was generous with their time to enlighten me! Never mind.... YouTube

Also, if you have two key fobs - change both batteries at the same time. I spent more time looking for the batteries than it takes to change them.

Read my thread and watch the video to see if that's what you're hearing. http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1211155
Your passenger door handle is the culprit which is causing your comfort access to act up and unlock the car when your key fob is in close proximity. To find out which door handle is bad lock your car and wait about 15 second than walkup to each door slowly with a 2-3 feet distance. Once you get to the bad door handle the car would unlock and you'll here the relay in the back trunk switch on and off. |

The dealer should fix this under the original warranty if you are only over by 50 miles or 200 for that matter. You have to be able to drive your car in. They might have to make a call to get the repair authorized because the computer will auto deny it for mileage but that's why they make the big bucks. Also if the battery replacement was done as an effort to fix your door locking issue or your battery failed due to the door handle it still falls under your original warranty. Repair attempt. I would call your S.A. in the morning and let them know you are still having problems

That's not bad if yours started at 50,000 miles. Mines started acting up around 25,000. If you have a good relationship with your SA it shouldnt be a big deal if its over by that much. Just tell them that you just couldnt find the time to bring it in. With your battery issue, you could just charge it back up and you should be okay. The dealer charged mines up when it was there for the repair. The issue drained my battery too and was giving me the message key fob not detected and I couldn't crank my car.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try to pop in tomorrow...
FYI, I watched all the YouTube videos for replacement and they were for the 3 series remotes.... which require CR2032. The F10 requires CR2045... so I have 4 pk of batteries that I can't use LOL.
