Has there been a determination what rear bar to upgrade to from a stock 528ix? Would like to match the upgraded M5 front bar as close as possible. Thanks in advance.

My rear M550D/650 rear sway bar just arrived. Its 16mm and going to put it in my LCI 550 tomorrow. Stock size on my car is 14mm.

I don't see why it won't fit the 528ix if this is an accurate assumption. I am going to get it up on the lift see when it comes in. If not, then check the classifieds next week for a deal on an M5 bar.

Even though the 16mm is only 2mm (or about 14%) larger, I suspect the difference will be felt nonetheless. I read a while back on a Porche post that the resistance factor was exponential to the increase in bar diameter. I just don't remember the formula or factor but nevertheless, I can't help but believe there'll be a benefit. Can't wait to hear your report.
Thanks...Keep up the good work! |

where did you source yours from? rear sway bar I mean...I've already done the front sway bar replacement. Have a 2012 550i with M Sports package. Would it be a direct fit?

Looking at the pics, I assume it's the two new bushings (33556788630) in the plastic bags. And that's all you need, plus the sway bar (33556791932), right?

Alan,
Do you feel the difference after swapping the rear sway bar from 14 to 16mm? Swapping the front is more noticeable than swapping the rear? I suspect swapping the rear will add "oversteer" to balance out the extra "understeer" added by swapping the front. Better feel when exiting corner? I am planning to swap both front and rear at the same time, if the rear makes a different. |

yes the rear does make a difference but not as dramatic as the front. Well worth the $190 price tag for the parts and the install for the rear is super easy.

I just put on the rear bar last week as well. Agree with what Alan said. Rear is less noticeable, but made the car handles better overall.
