I hit a massive pothole the other day and some parts fell off my car, but here are some cheaper replacement parts that fit nicely.
Sourced from a Raw Tek(nical) company in Canada; BM1 535 N57 SP Bimmertune has a suitable EGR replacement kit; EGR 535d US Of course I had to have an exhaust kit made at a local shop because I don't know how to weld; and I had some ECU "damage" that required some programming... The passenger ballast tank at the rear has 3 hose attachments, one going to the front of the vehicle (which was cut because the fuel tank would have to be dropped) and two to the gas flap as well as a metal strap held on by a couple nuts covered by a plastic panel. Hope this information helps someone and beware of those potholes. |

Oh yeah, ended doing a dual exit exhaust as well... I went with a simple ebay diffuser that didn't require cutting or modification like some other aggressive ones; undo a couple clips, pull it off (held on by a bunch of tabs) and literally smack the new one on.
Amazon 4" black chrome tips since they're going to turn a powdery black anyway... Diffuser is sold out now, but it was eBay item 194259960654. Last edited by chutoyy; 05-12-2024 at 09:17 PM.. Reason: More stuff. |

Great info and pics!!! Got any more details on the mufflers you used and any feedback/video of how it sounds?
Which company in Canada? I’m in Ontario and might look them up. |

Resonator came with the kit from Raw Tek (They're around Montreal?)
No videos, but I ran it straight piped to the exhaust shop and it's not terrible; didn't notice much drone, but it does make a lot of diesel wooshy noises. Resonator removed some of lower frequency noise, but still noticeable when you get on the accelerator. |

How did you end up removing the DEF Tank? Can't find any write-ups on that. I currently have it dropped after unbolting it but the connectors/plugs to the tank won't budge.

Hi, I'm new to the 5 series forum so I'll say hello.
However, when it comes to EGR/DPF issues, there are many good and bad opinions, but after my experiences I have another 525d F11 car after EGR/DPF modification and I'm happy with it (you have to remember to change the oil frequently), and I read a lot that cars with EGR/DPF constantly have problems related to it. To sum up, a great modification ![]() |

Vacuum Line Troubleshooting
This thread has been incredibly helpful.
I am almost finished with my EGR delete on a 2014 535d and I am wondering what I need to do with the EGR Valve Control Vacuum Solenoid (11-74-7-810-831). Can this be removed? I capped two lines but I'm not sure if they are correct could someone verify? |

Has anyone looked into just removing the EGR and leaving the DPF in place?
After some research it seems EGR is responsible for most of the issues, including increased soot levels which contaminates the oil and fills the DPF sooner. To me, the only negative about the DPF is its eventual failure. If eliminating the EGR improves its lifespan I’d be all for it. I also like the fact the DPF cleans soot from the exhaust… I don’t need the back of my car covered in soot all the time. |

Why do you need to remove it? Mine is still there, just tuned out.

Its only really sooty at WOT and only usually if you have boost leaks... normally its just a little bit hazy, with no black soot. Black soot usually means something is wrong..

I see a couple of white F-Series 328d running around locally with sooty back ends, I’m sure they’re tuned as they have aftermarket exhaust. My car is Carbon Black (LOL) so it wouldn’t show as much, but I just picture my wife getting something out of the trunk with white pants on… and it not going well. |

if its sooty, then it has a boost leak.
