No that 278 standard is correct, I had my car dyno'd at EAS and had similar power to whats shown. I currently only have the SAE converted dyno in front of me.

Jaekeem, thanks for pitching in. I guess a 10% powerloss to the rear is not unheard of if we believe the numbers posted by BMW. I still think gaining 30 - 50 hp to the wheels is fantastic esp. If I had nothing else to change besides the ecu piggyback. Like I said I will let you guys know what I think as soon as I try it. BTW, I did a stupid run 2 days ago and hit the speed max which to my surprise was capped at 210 KM/hr!! I thought the sport package eliminated the speed limiter but I guess not . Anyone know if the JB3 erases the speedlimit?

I have a few planned power mods coming in the next few weeks. So hopefully I'll have dyno plots for all the mods as they are completed.

Check the pdf in this post http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450776. It has the specs for m-sport here in Canada and you will see on 535, etc. under m-sport there is option 840 High speed maximum. It is not under the standard sport package. Bill

So just bumped the boost over stock on the JB3 to 5 PSI over as I am running 93 octane gas here in Atlanta, GA and, um, wow! Seems like there is a touch more lag than the stock settings but get past about 2,000 RPM and hold on to your coffee cups folks. Wow. I tried 4.25, 4.5, and then 5 PSI over and no CEL so I'll keep hammering away and report back after a few more miles. Easy to do with the optional cable, took about 1 minute.
That is all. |

Thanks sharbot I was under the impression it was part of the sport package and was very disappointed when the engine cutoff at 210! but I can see this going well beyond 250 as the rpm was reading only 3200 rpms at that speed!! Oh well, its not that I am going to do this everyday, matter of fact I should never be doing this LoL.
Diesel, that's some interesting stuff youre doing. I have a question for you, so yesterday I was reading the very very long thread on the JB3 in the support forum and looks like theres some talk about a DME upgraded software that you need to get, did you have that done? If yes how different is the experience when you got it done. I believe its something you need to get from the dealership, am I correct? What about upgrades to JB3 software has there been any? Too many questions sorry. MBA |

Will this work on a 550? its 400 stock so how much more power will I get with it on the v8? is it still 50hp or more since its a bigger engine? or is this only for 35's?

El Mejor, this is an N55 engine specific tune. Burger tuning has not offered one on the N63 (550i) engine yet, at least to my knowledge. So, no you can not use this on your car. Theres hartage and dinan ECUs available for your car but are much more expensive.

I just ordered my jb stage one and am looking forward to seeing how it performs.
As far as boost adjustments how do you go about setting that? I can never find any good info from the jb website.

You have to download the application listed in the first post. Connect to your JB3 with the serial to USB data cable. You will only change the boost over stock field to somewhere between 3 and 5. Use 5 if you are running 93 octane and somewhere between 3.0-4.0 for 92 or below. Worst case is check engine light if set too high. I'm running 5 and have no issues whatsoever, over about 50-60 miles for now and have driven the absolute snot out of this car today. Hope this helps. |

After the update I installed the JB3 which as you may have heard, rocks my freakin' world. After the update and before the JB3 the low end lag was much much much better. As I understand it if you have the older software, changing the boost over stock field doesn't do much. |

I have another question now regarding my car and JB3. Do I need to go to the stealership and have them reflash the ECU before installing the stage1? I havent taken my car in ever for anything as I had no problems. Regardless I'll see how the install goes next week. I'm so jealous Diesel you sound like you are having a blast with the JB turned up high and hauling ass!

The more I look at this I have a feeling our motors will soon be able to produce power that compares to the N54 motor's potential.
With Burger continuously looking into the software aspect of our cars and BMW's current releases to the ECU its just a matter of time before we break into 100+ HP with a tune only. Still in shock from seeing a 2008 335i 6-speed on the dyno last week at EAS. That car made like 430hp and like 480 lbs of tq on an otherwise stock internal motor. The owner had 100k miles daily driven on it!

Just installed my jb tune as well an it made close to the claimed hp. I will do a write up on it as soon as I have time.
But for my initial impressions the car now tends to hold gear longer in sport. As for power it made 22 whp and 59wtq in STD correction.
