I hope they finally put the luxury seats that hug you back in! (the ones that automatically close to your body when you start the car)

I think the v8 falls short now that you have to pay a gas guzzler tax for a 6 speed! |

Absolutely correct, I've written about present model... Good question in fact, but I think it will get 2-liter (1.6 in this segment would make some people crazy, even though this is the future due to CO2 emissions standards...).

I'd like to see an n63 hooked up to the same dyno as the n63tu or whatever this successor motor is. I'd bet they put out near identical output. Just a hunch...
Regardless, once Burger is done and someone figures out a way to free up the purposely restricted induction set-up, it's off to the races. |

Wow i hope that is not correct. Planning on buying a 550i m sport here soon and getting it in a 6spd manual, then saw the LCI was coming out soon so thought I should wait. However if that is true, then I will be passing on the LCI.
It seems that 550i 6 speeds are almost non existent in the US. Most CAs don't even want to order a stickshift 5 series. Sad what is happening. |

Also. Just double checking but you cannot get the f10 550 x drive in 6 speed can you? Or the 535i x drive.

I was wondering that too... especially as my 2012 car already has it according to the build sheet. I can only assume it's an explosive charge that raises the hood from the engine which is supposed to reduce head injuries. A few cars do that nowadays.

They like to say the manual is a poor seller. Well, most manual drivers in the North East prefer xdrive. I see many e60 535xi's as manual cars. There...USED to be a following. Back in e60 days. |

We will also see the return of the 518 in d format. A badge not seen on the 5er and 5er Touring since the E34.

The latest Autobild previews the LCI BMW 5er which shows what lies behind the camouflage tape.
As per modern BMW and integrated as EfficientDynamics. The 5er LCI inherits Air curtains , as well as new detailing, a re-profiled nose that is slightly faired in headlamps and optional LED adaptive headlights. The change is not radical as the 5er maintains its position as the segment benchmark. Of course there will be significant changes to engine options (550i Gets N63Tu Engine, 535d for US [source]) and for entry customers the BMW 518 makes a return since the E34 albeit in diesel form. Engineers have also incorporated slight changes to the car's steering as well as incorporating BMW's cylinder dimming introduced on the 7er. Both the BMW 5er Touring and 5er Gran Turismo will debut at the same time.

Also the cylinder dimming would be valvetronic right? If so, doesn't the 5er already have valvetronic in all of its engines? |

This is from the release of the inline 3 engine. Apparently it is part of the Valvetronic technology. Scott must have been referring to a further development of it. Quote:
