Steering Wheel Vibration on braking
I have been experiencing some vibration in the steering wheel on normal braking 60mph to 0mph. Didn't experience this before the dealer changed the front pads on the car. Is this normal and I just need to bed the pads a little more or does this indicate some other problem?
The car drives straight as an arrow, no vibration at any speed, just on braking. |

I had the same problem at about 15K miles, I tried burnishing the rotors like img suggested and even had the dealer do it also. After that didn't work they told me the rotors were warped and the SA handed me an estimate for $1500 for two new front rotors (P&L). Long story short I escalated this through BMW USA and finally to the Service Manager at my local dealership (in addition to threatening a law suite) and they finally got me new rotors covered under the maintenance warranty. Here's the thread if you want to read more-

Reading the brake section of the forum, it looks like a bunch of others are experiencing the same thing, same conditions and have come to the conclusion of warped rotors. It looks like they released a revised rotor with the 09 model year. Guess i'll be asking about that revision when I take it in tomorrow. Can't believe this after they just did the front brakes. I don't track the car, it's my Daily driver and cruise the speed limit to conserve fuel. |

Dealer confirmed that the rotors did warp after 2,500 miles. Thread should probably be moved to Brakes forum. |
